Jari Tees and Custom Designs
The brief: Jari Designs was a small start-up founded by myself. It was created to foster and illicit pride for those with naturally textured hair through the use of empowering t-shirts and accessories. The target audience was African-American mothers from the ages of 24 – 42.
Insight: In keeping with my high-contrast aesthetic, Jari’s colors were black with neon accents. My goal was to create a memorable brand that played well within the African American diaspora.
All t-shirt graphics were designed by me and cut from vinyl utilizing a Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. Each design was then pressed onto garments using a standard platen heat press.
Product photographs were all done by me utilizing a Nikon 3200 DSLR.
The results: Jari was launched with rave reviews and was featured on CBS morning news in Charlotte, The Huffington Post, ESPN, and Mocha Kid Magazine within the first year of its inception.
